Nenad STEKIĆ, Ph.D.
Dr. Nenad Stekić is currently a Research Fellow at the Institute of International Politics and Economics, where he works since July 2018, and as of January 2020 within the Regional Centre “Belt and Road”. His core academic interests include the People’s Republic of China’s security strategy, the regional security dynamics of Southeast Asia, and the effects of interstate armed conflicts on defence arrangements and political regimes.
He is appointed as a Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal The Review of International Affairs since January 2023.
He worked as a teaching aide in the courses of International Relations and Political Systems throughout his PhD studies at the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Security Studies. He holds an external consultancy as a Country Expert for Varieties of Democracy Institute (University of Gothenburg), where he works as an evaluator of the quality of political regimes for the V-Dem Data project.
Nenad co-edited several thematic proceedings – Chinese Development Challenges: Changes and Projections, with Katarina Zakić (Belgrade: IIPE, 2022); Conference Proceedings from the 2022 International Academic Conference on Human Security, with Aleksandra Ilić (Belgrade: FSS & IIPE, 2023), as well as Challenges of the modern world: Strategic action of countries or the result of global and local processes and occasions?, with Zoran Jeftić (Belgrade, FSS, IIPE & ISI, 2021). He has published over thirty academic articles and book reviews in renewed Serbian and international journals, as well as in thematic books published by esteemed international scientific institutions. Together with Dr. Katarina Zakić, he established the “Dialogues on China” format which consists of a series of academic conferences, round tables, and publications.
He is a member of the European Peace Research Association (EuPRA). He does peer-reviews on a regular basis for numerous Serbian scientific journals.
Dr. Stekić is fluent in English and is actively learning Mandarin (HSK3).
Deputy Editor-in-Chief
Nevena Šekarić Stojanović, Ph.D.
Dr. Šekarić Stojanović is currently Research Fellow at the Institute of International Politics and Economics, where she works since July 2018 within the Centre for Euro-Atlantic Studies. She obtained the PhD title from the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Security Studies. The areas of her academic interests are energy security, regional security, international relations theories, and qualitative research methodology of security phenomena.
Nevena Šekarić Stojanović was the secretary of the IIPE’s The Review of International Affairs scientific journal during 2021 and 2022.
During her studies at the Faculty of Security Studies, Nevena was a teaching fellow in undergraduate courses in Foundations of Security, Security Systems and Corporate Security. She is a scholarship carrier of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, as well as of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. During her master studies, Nevena was an intern in United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and in Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP). As of 2021, Dr. Šekarić Stojanović is a member of the Eastern and South-Eastern Europe Fanel Network, established to promote women expertise in areas of international relations, security studies and political science.
Nevena co-edited Regional Security: Approaches, Elements and Dynamics with Dr. Vladimir Trapara (IIPE, 2021). She authored more than thirty scientific articles and several book reviews published in domestic and international scientific journals and thematic books. Dr. Šekarić Stojanović is a Coordinator Assistant of the Winter School of International Relations, an annual IIPE’s event consisting of series of lectures organised for undergraduate, master and PhD students from University of Belgrade’s faculties. She does peer-reviews on a regular basis for numerous Serbian scientific journals.

Secretary
Pavle NEDIĆ, MA
Pavle Nedić joined the Institute of International Politics and Economics in March 2021. The areas of his academic interest are international relations theories, international security and great power relations. He is a PhD student of International and European Studies at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Belgrade. At the same faculty, Pavle finished his undergraduate studies in international relations and master studies in international security. The subject of his master’s thesis is Balancing of the American power after the Ukrainian crisis: a case study relationship between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. Pavle has authored several articles published in scientific journals and has participated in numerous scientific conferences, gatherings and seminars.
